Terms and Conditions of Service

Welcome to Waste Tool ("Website"), a digital platform dedicated to supporting the reduction of food waste through data management and collaboration owned by the Vidzeme Planning Region in the Republic of Latvia. This website is operated and maintained by WasteLocker OÜ, a company registered in Estonia under the registry code 16444213 at the address 12 M. Härma Street, Apartment 139, Tallinn, 13612, in the Republic of Estonia.

By accessing or using the Website, including registering for an account, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with these terms, the use of the Website is unavailable.

Purpose of the Website

The Website is intended to support and promote food waste reduction initiatives within the scope of and the duration of the Ce4Re project, including the focus of restaurants in Latvia, Finland, and Sweden. It enables users to input, manage, and review food waste-related data as part of collaborative or institutional efforts.

User Eligibility

To register or use the Website, you must:

  • Be at least 16 years of age or have legal guardian consent.
  • Be authorized to represent your organization (if applicable).
  • Agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations in addition to these Terms.

Account Registration and Security

When registering an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information.
  • Keep your account credentials confidential.
  • Be responsible for all activities under your account.

To ensure proper use of a Waste management tool according Ce4Re project purposes, WasteLocker OÜ may suspend or delete accounts that violate these terms or misuse the platform.

Data Collection and GDPR Compliance

We collect and process personal data (e.g. login credentials, contact information, and submitted content) in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and Estonian data protection laws.

Your personal data is processed for the following purposes:

  • Creating and managing your user account.
  • Providing access to platform features and data tools.
  • Improving the performance, usability, and security of the Website.
  • Facilitating communication between registered users or project stakeholders.

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data.
  • Correct or update inaccurate information.
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict or object to data processing.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time (where applicable).
  • File a complaint with the Data Protection Inspectorate of the Republic of Estonia.

To do this, proceed as following:

  1. Access the Management sheet via Waste Tool platform.
  2. Select the option “Edit restaurant info”.
  3. Modify the necessary data fields accordingly.

Intellectual Property

All content on the Website—including software, design, logos, texts, and visual elements—is owned by Vidzeme Planning Region in the Republic of Latvia and/or its partners, unless otherwise stated. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or republish any content without explicit permission.

Data submitted by users remains their property but may be used in anonymized or aggregated form for project reporting, research, or analysis related to the platform’s goals.

Acceptable Use

By using the Website, you agree not to:

  • Upload false, misleading, or harmful content.
  • Violate the rights of other users or third parties.
  • Use the platform for unauthorized commercial purposes.
  • Interfere with platform security or functionality.

Availability and Maintenance

We aim to provide continuous access to the Website, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. The Website may be temporarily unavailable for updates, maintenance, or technical issues.

Limitation of Liability

WasteLocker OÜ is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Website. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of user-submitted content or external links.

We guarantee that the Website shall perform as intended but cannot be liable for any accuracy, completeness, or reliability in the event of external influence or misuse of the Website. We guarantee to assist and resolve any inaccuracies or unreliable factors that may arise.

The Website’s terms and conditions can be modified but are not enforceable unless you agree with the modifications. Not agreeing with the updates on terms and conditions may result in limited use of the Website.

Disputes

If a claim or a dispute arises out of or in connection with the use of the Website, both you and us agree to resolve it amicably and through mediation in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Estonia.

If a resolution cannot be reached through mediation, both parties to the agreement can resort to resolving the dispute through the Harju County Court in the Republic of Estonia.

Termination of Use

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or misuse the platform. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at ce4re@wastelocker.com.

Miscellaneous

If any portion of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the unenforceable portion will be deemed amended to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and if it can’t be made enforceable, then it will be severed and the remaining portion will remain in full force and effect. If we fail to enforce any of these Terms, it will not be considered a waiver. Any amendment to or waiver of these Terms must be made in writing and signed by both Parties.

You will not transfer any of your rights or obligations under these Terms to anyone else without our consent.
